Floral Fun with Wrapping Supplies: Make Your Own Paper Monogram

DIY Project: Creating a Monogram Letter with Paper Flowers ????

Looking to add a little color and charm to your space? Whether you're decorating your dorm room, brightening up a closet nook, having a standout piece hanging on your wall when you enter your home, or adding a whimsical touch to your coffee table corner, a paper flower monogram is a simple, stunning project you can make in an afternoon.

This DIY is not only easy and affordable, but also a great way to express your personality with paper and a little creativity. Let’s dive into it!

What You’ll Need

A piece of cardboard (for the monogram base)
A pencil or stencil for outlining your letter
Scissors
Tissue paper
Colored paper
Hot glue gun (or your preferred craft glue)

1. Stencil and Cut Your Letter

Pick a letter (your first initial, your last name, or a friend’s) and use a stencil or freehand it onto a sturdy piece of cardboard. Once you’re happy with the outline, carefully cut it out. This will be your monogram base.

2. Make Paper Flowers

Using tissue paper, cut small to medium-sized squares of paper and layer 3–4 pieces together. Crumple it up into a ball shape and fluff them to look like little floral shapes—don’t worry about perfection here, the more organic they look, the better! These will give your monogram a soft, full look.

Also, to give some variety of flowers in between the tissue paper daisies, you coule make some beautiful simple flowers from our previous Paper Flowers blog. This will bring a whimsical touch to the finished monogram. Check out JAM's previous paper flower blog to find more flowers to use in this project.

3. Assemble

Once you’ve got a nice collection of flowers, start gluing them onto your cardboard letter. Begin with the larger of the flowers, then fill in the gaps with smaller ones. For best results, we recommend using a hot glue gun—it holds the flowers firmly and dries quickly.

4. Fluff, Adjust, Admire

Once your letter is fully covered, take a moment to fluff and adjust your flowers. You want a nice mix of color and texture, so feel free to play around with placement until it feels just right.
