Kids light up when they hear the ELF on the Shelf is coming! This cute mailbox and letter to Elfie project begins with gathering red cardstock, white envelopes, cardboard kraft box, holiday tissue or wrapping paper, glue, tape, scissors, and a few small props that add charm. Follow the simple steps below to create the ultimate craft to do with your kids before this upcoming holiday season.
Supplies Needed
Red Cardstock
Gift Wrap of your choice
Cardboard Box
Tape
Stickers & Markers (Optional but highly recommeded for added fun)
Step One
Wrap a cardboard box in tissue or wrapping paper. An amazon box or any box you are going to recycle, like an Amazon box, would be perfect to use! Then cover one side, preferrably the smallest side, with red cardstock to use as the mailbox door. Have your kids decorate the wrapped box with stickers or markers to add their own creative touch.
Step Two
Parents or guardians, cut through the red cardstock side of the box with three slits, so that the red covered cardboard can turn into a cute little open mailbox door. To make it open like a mailbox, cut the two sides and top edge.
Step Three
Adding a simple cut out little red flag from the cardstock to the side of the box.
Step Four
Write a letter to elfie. Have your child dream up what they may want from Santa, or what they did at school and ask Elfie if he saw it! They can write down questions for Elfie (YOU, haha) can answer for them to read the next day.
Final Step
Tuck the mailbox somewhere kids will spot it quickly each day.
